New in Canva: Edit Video Without Leaving Your Design
Canva recently rolled out an update that makes a big difference—especially if you're a business owner juggling it all. You can now edit video directly inside your Canva design.
No more switching tools. No more downloading and re-uploading. Just simple, fast edits while you're already in the flow.
Reclaim your focus with this productivity hack: update video within the same Canva design
Here's what happened the other day:
I was creating an Instagram reel for a client.
Dropped a video into a square design
Added a few animations
Layered some images on top
Then I noticed the video was too long. And that’s the kind of thing that can make people scroll right past.
Normally, that’s a whole detour:
Open the video in another Canva window
Trim it there
Export it
Re-upload it
Cross your fingers the timing works
But this time, I noticed something new.
I clicked the video inside my design—and the trim tool showed up.
WHAT?!
Yes. Canva now lets you trim and tweak video right inside the design you’re working on.
I cut the clip, adjusted the timing, and got back to business. What used to take 10–15 minutes
(also because the switch can derail my focus)? Done in under one.
For entrepreneurs who wear all the hats, this kind of tool upgrade is gold.
Thanks, Canva, for saving time and focus.
