5 life changing anchors i wish i knew sooner
If I could rewind the clock and hand my younger self a cheat sheet for showing up stronger—in work, in life, in everything—these five truths would be on it. They’re not flashy hacks or rigid rules. They’re anchors. The kind that help you build real stamina, mental sharpness, and grounded confidence in a world that pulls you in a thousand directions.
If I had a sit-down with my 20-year old self, this is what i’d say.
Some lessons take time to land. These? I wish I’d known them sooner.
1. Exercise isn’t optional—it's foundational.
Not for a vacation or a number on the scale but for real energy, mental clarity, patience, inner calm, and a body that holds up. Strength, balance, and endurance are key to showing up long-term at work and in life.
2. Ditch the diet, eat with intention.
Whole foods, solid protein, lots of plants. Be mindful of what’s on your plate and how it makes you feel because everyone’s body is a little different. And yes, enjoy the indulgences. The goal is consistency, not restriction.
3. Rest is a power move.
Sleep is non-negotiable. Movement during the day, especially a workout or even a walk sets the stage for deep rest at night. If you’re having trouble falling asleep at night, get up early to work out, it’s my secret to quality sleep. A well-rested brain makes sharper decisions. Simple as that.
4. Hydration is underrated.
Recognize how much sugar hides in your daily drinks. Water might be boring, but it’s a game-changer for focus, digestion, and skin. Save the sugar for the wine - on purpose.
5. Stay curious.
The learning doesn’t stop after school. Whether it’s your industry, your finances, or something totally outside your lane, keep learning. A curious mind gives you an intellectual edge. And staying sharp is a choice.
These aren’t rules. They’re anchors.
Fuel your grit. Lead with clarity. And show up like you mean it.
